Farm Fresh Eggs
Bird eggs have been valuable foodstuffs since prehistory. The chicken was probably domesticated for its eggs from jungle fowl native to tropical and subtropical Southeast Asia and India before 7500 BCE. The most commonly used bird eggs are those from the chicken. Duck and goose eggs, and smaller eggs, such as quail eggs, are occasionally used as a gourmet ingredient in western countries. Some of the most common preparation methods include scrambled, fried, hard-boiled, soft-boiled, omelettes and pickled. Ground egg shells are sometimes used as a food additive to deliver calcium.
