Glorious First of June
The Glorious First of June (also known as the Third Battle of Ushant, and in France as the Bataille du 13 prairial an 2 or Combat de Prairial) of 1794 was the first and largest fleet action of the naval conflict between the Kingdom of Great Britain and the First French Republic during the French Revolutionary Wars. The British Channel Fleet under Admiral Lord Howe attempted to prevent the passage of a vital French grain convoy from the United States, which was protected by the French Atlantic Fleet, commanded by Vice-Admiral Louis Thomas Villaret de Joyeuse. The two forces clashed in the Atlantic Ocean, some 400 nautical miles (741 km) west of the French island of Ushant on 1 June 1794. This jigsaw is based on Philippe-Jacques de Loutherbourg's painting depicting this naval battle.

Violet Clematis Flower
The wild Clematis species native to China made their way into Japanese gardens in the 17th century. The Japanese garden selections reached European gardens, in the 18th century (the wild Chinese species were identified at the end of the 19th century). These plants are valued for their ability to scramble up walls and also to grow through other plants, such as shrubs and trees - the genus name is from Ancient Greek clematis, ("a climbing plant") - and their beautiful flowers as you can see in today's new jigsaw puzzle.

Two Butterflies On A Flower
Butterflies feed primarily on nectar from flowers. They are important as pollinators for some species of plants and are capable of moving pollen over greater distances. Many butterflies migrate over long distances. For example the eastern North American population of monarch butterflies, like the two sharing a flower in today's new jigsaw puzzle, can travel thousands of miles southwest to overwintering sites in Mexico.
