Guinea Pigs Eating

Guinea Pigs Eating

Today's new jigsaw puzzle features three cute Guinea Pigs eating. The scientific name of the common species is Cavia porcellus, with porcellus being Latin for "little pig". How the animals came to be called "pigs" is not clear. They are built somewhat like pigs, with large heads relative to their bodies, stout necks, and rounded rumps with no tail of any consequence; some of the sounds they emit are very similar to those made by pigs, and they also spend a large amount of time eating. They can survive for long periods in small quarters, like a 'pig pen'. There are two different types of guinea pig coats and they are self patterns and marked patterns. Self patterns are made up of just one color which could be white, cream, buff, gold, black, slate, lilac, chocolate, beige or reddish brown. The marked patterns are made up of two or more colors.

The range in which sea lions live extends from the subarctic to tropical waters of the global ocean in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, with the notable exception of the northern Atlantic Ocean. Together with the fur seals, they constitute the family Otariidae, collectively known as eared seals. Although very cute and smart , sea lions are wild animals and should be admired for afar while in the wild. Sea lion attacks on humans are rare, but when humans come within approximately 2.5 meters, it can be very unsafe.

Raccoon On A Tree Branch

Raccoon On A Tree Branch

The playful raccoon featured in today's new puzzle has climbed a tree to get a better view of it's surroundings. Raccoons are noted for their intelligence, with studies showing that they are able to remember the solution to tasks for at least three years. Although they have thrived in sparsely wooded areas in the last decades, raccoons depend on vertical structures to climb when they feel threatened or when they need to take a look around and find food or see other animals. Tree hollows in old oaks or other trees and rock crevices are preferred by raccoons as sleeping, winter and litter dens.

Cats prefer to play with objects that resemble prey, such as small furry toys that move rapidly, but rapidly lose interest in a toy they have played with before.
Toucan

Toucan

Today's free jigsaw features a colorful toucan. Toucans are members of the family Ramphastidae of near passerine birds from the Neotropics. The Ramphastidae family is most closely related to the American barbets. They are brightly marked and have large, often colorful bills. Toucans range in size from the Lettered Aracari (Pteroglossus inscriptus), at 130 g (4.6 oz) and 29 cm (11.5 inches), to the Toco Toucan (Ramphastos toco), at 680 g (1.5 lb) and 63 cm (29 inches). Their bodies are short (of comparable size to a crow's) and compact. The tail is rounded and varies in length, from half the length to the whole length of the body. The neck is short and thick. The wings are small, as they are forest-dwelling birds who only need to travel short distances, and are often of about the same span as the bill-tip-to-tail-tip measurements of the bird. The legs of a toucan are strong and rather short. Their toes are arranged in pairs with the first and fourth toes turned backward.
