Lemur with Baby

Lemur with Baby

Today's puzzle features a cute lemur and it's baby. Lemurs are a type of primates endemic to the island of Madagascar. Ranging in size from 30 g to 9 kg, lemurs share many common, basal primate traits, such as divergent digits on their hands and feet and nails instead of claws. Lemurs are generally the most social of the strepsirrhine primates and communicate more with scents and vocalizations than with visual signals. The word "lemur" derives from the word lemures (ghosts or spirits) from Roman mythology and was first used to describe a slender loris due to its nocturnal habits and slow pace, but was later applied to the primates on Madagascar.
Red Deer Stag

Red Deer Stag

Another great online jigsaw puzzle featuring a red deer stag grazing. The red deer (Cervus elaphus) is one of the largest deer species. The red deer inhabits most of Europe, the Caucasus Mountains region, Asia Minor, parts of western Asia, and central Asia. It also inhabits the Atlas Mountains region between Morocco and Tunisia in northwestern Africa, being the only species of deer to inhabit Africa. Generally, the male (stag or hart) red deer is typically 175 to 260 cm (69 to 100 in) long and weighs 160 to 240 kg (350 to 530 lb).
Guinea Pig

Guinea Pig

A fun new jigsaw featuring a cute guinea pig playing in the grass. The scientific name of the common species is Cavia porcellus, with porcellus being Latin for "little pig". Cavia is New Latin; it is derived from cabiai, the animal's name in the language of the Galibi tribes once native to French Guiana.Cabiai may be an adaptation of the Portuguese cavia (now savia), which is itself derived from the Tupi word sauja, meaning rat. How the animals came to be called "pigs" is not clear. They are built somewhat like pigs, with large heads relative to their bodies, stout necks, and rounded rumps with no tail of any consequence; some of the sounds they emit are very similar to those made by pigs, and they also spend a large amount of time eating. They can survive for long periods in small quarters, like a 'pig pen', and were thus easily transported on ships to Europe.

Two Polar Bears

Two Polar Bears

A carnivorous bear native to the Arctic Circle, the polar bear, is a marine mammal (because it spends many months of the year at sea). Its diet primarily consists of ringed and bearded seals. The polar bear's most common hunting method is called still-hunting. The bear may lay in wait for several hours next to a seal breathing hole. When the seal exhales, the bear smells its breath, reaches into the hole with a forepaw, and drags it out onto the ice. The polar bear is an excellent swimmer and often will swim for days. When sprinting, it can reach up to 40 km/h.
