About: The Chateau de Hautefort is a French castle and gardens located in the town of Hautefort in the Dordogne. The first owner of the estate was Guy de Lastours, around the year 1000. The Chateau experienced its most sumptuous period in the 17th century. During the French Revolution, the castle, used as a "prison for suspects" from 1793 to 1795, was saved from destruction.In 1853, Count de Choulot undertook a complete remodelling of the gardens at Hautefort at the request of the Baron de Damas, who became the owner of the Chateau .

Azay-le-Rideau's staircase rises in straight flights rather than in a spiral, as was more usual at this time, and is the oldest surviving staircase of this kind in France.

Schloss Ort is an Austrian castle situated in the Traunsee lake, in Gmunden. It was built around 1080 by Hartnidus of Ort, and improvements continued to be made into the thirteenth century. From 1484 to 1491, the castle was governed by Gotthard von Starhenberg, the Governor of Upper Austria. In 1492, Bernhard of Starhenberg and later his descendants ruled the castle until 1584. In 1876, the castle was acquired by Archduke John Salvator of Austria (John of Tuscany). The castle was later acquired by Franz Joseph I of Austria (in 1914). On January 5, 1995, the castle was officially acquired by the city of Gmunden. At present the castle is being used for a study center of the Federal Ministry for Land and Forestry. Since 1442 the masters of Büdingen have been known as Grafen of Isenburg-Büdingen. After a local war, Graf Ludwig II built an enormous new defensive wall with 22 towers around the old stronghold between 1480 and 1510. These walls are still nearly complete and they are one of the most important medieval strongholds in Germany.

Built in a Renaissance-Gothic style and constructed over the site of an older fortification on a rock above the small Zlaști River, the castle is a large and imposing structure with tall towers, bastions, an inner courtyard, diversely coloured roofs, and myriads of windows and balconies adorned with stone carvings.

This beautiful nineteenth-century palace is located on a steep hill above the village of Hohenschwangau in southwest Bavaria, Germany was commissioned by Ludwig II as a retreat and as a homage to Richard Wagner (a German composer, theatre director, polemicist, and conductor who is primarily known for his operas). In the nineteenth century, many castles were constructed or reconstructed, often with significant changes to make them more picturesque. The building design was drafted by the stage designer Christian Jank and realized by the architect Eduard Riedel. The foundation stone for the palace was laid on September 5, 1869. The castle was erected as a conventional brick construction and later encased in various types of rock. It is furnished, as you can see in this fun new puzzle, with numerous towers, ornamental turrets, gables, balconies, pinnacles and sculptures. If it looks familiar it's because it served as a model for the Sleeping Beauty Castle of Disneyland. In the early 16th century it was purchased by Louis XII's treasurer Jean Cottereau, who transformed the castle into a country house. In the 17th century it was rebuilt for Madame de Maintenon, who purchased the estate in 1675.
