About: The castle of Maintenon is situated in the commune of Maintenon in the Eure-et-Loir departement of France. The construction of the castle began in the 12th and ended in roughly the 18th century. In the early 16th century it was purchased by Louis XII's treasurer Jean Cottereau, who transformed the castle into a country house. In the 17th century it was rebuilt for Madame de Maintenon, who purchased the estate in 1675.

This beautiful nineteenth-century palace is located on a steep hill above the village of Hohenschwangau in southwest Bavaria, Germany was commissioned by Ludwig II as a retreat and as a homage to Richard Wagner (a German composer, theatre director, polemicist, and conductor who is primarily known for his operas). In the nineteenth century, many castles were constructed or reconstructed, often with significant changes to make them more picturesque. The building design was drafted by the stage designer Christian Jank and realized by the architect Eduard Riedel. The foundation stone for the palace was laid on September 5, 1869. The castle was erected as a conventional brick construction and later encased in various types of rock. It is furnished, as you can see in this fun new puzzle, with numerous towers, ornamental turrets, gables, balconies, pinnacles and sculptures. If it looks familiar it's because it served as a model for the Sleeping Beauty Castle of Disneyland. Located in the city of Schwerin (Germany), Schwerin Castle - the beautiful castle feature in this puzzle, is situated on an island on lake Schwerin (an approximately 61 square kilometres and 52 meter depth). The palace was the home of the dukes and grand dukes of Mecklenburg and Mecklenburg-Schwerin for hundreds of years. The first records of a castle at this location date from AD 973. Major parts of the current palace were built between 1845 and 1857, as a cooperation of the renowned history architects Friedrich August Stüler, Gottfried Semper, Ernst Friedrich Zwirner and Georg Adolf Demmler. A third of the palace was destroyed in 1913 by a fire but it was reconstructed. After the abdication of the Grand Duke in 1918 the castle became a musesum and in 1948 the seate of the state parliament. Starting in the 1950 it has been a college for kindergarten teachers, a museum and since 1990 is has once again been a the seat of he state assembly of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Metz remained German until the end of World War I, when it reverted to France.
