Corvin Castle was laid out in 1446, when construction began at the orders of John Hunyadi ( Romanian: Iancu or Ioan de Hunedoara) who wanted to transform the former keep built by Charles I of Hungary. Built in a Renaissance-Gothic style and constructed over the site of an older fortification on a rock above the small Zlaști River, the castle is a large and imposing structure with tall towers, bastions, an inner courtyard, diversely coloured roofs, and myriads of windows and balconies adorned with stone carvings.

Libochovice Chateau is situated in the centre of Libochovice, a town in the Czech Republic. The chateau has four wings and is surrounded by arcades lining the courtyard. The current building was preceded by a Gothic stronghold, rebuilt between 1560 and 1564 into a manor, which provided the foundation for the present structure. The manor is preserved in a nearly genuine early Baroque condition and it was build between 1683 and 1690.

The original castle, built from 1542–1546, was a hunting lodge for Moritz of Saxony, then Duke of Saxony. In 1728, a park was added to the castle on the adjacent land to the north. The interior of the castle is furnished with examples of opulent baroque decor from the time of Augustus the Strong. The walls are covered in 17th century gold-gilded leather. Many rooms' furnishings are dedicated to courtly hunting.

The 14th-century tower, and the 17th-century and 18th-century extensions, were kept, and survive within the current structure of the castle. If you want to visit this impressive structure you can. The Kraków Barbican is a barbican (a fortified outpost or gateway, such as an outer defence to a city or castle, or any tower situated over a gate or bridge) once connected to the city walls. The Gothic-style barbican, built around 1498, is one of only three such fortified outposts still surviving in Europe. It is a moated cylindrical brick structure with an inner courtyard 24.4 meters in diameter, and seven turrets. The Poles built the barbican fearing an attack by the Ottoman Empire.
