They have compound, deeply lobed leaves and large, often fragrant flowers, in colors ranging from purple and pink to red, white or yellow. They are popular garden plants, the flowers have a short blooming season, usually only 7 to 10 days.

Also known as German bearded iris or simply bearder, iris Iris x germanica is the name for a species of flowering plants in the family Iridaceae. It grows up to 120 cm high and it's flowers can have nearly every color from black to white, to red, pink, violet, yellow and many more. It is popular for it's beautiful and fragrant flowers and grown in gardens all over the world.

Most species of cactuses have lost true leaves, retaining only spines. The spines defend the plant against herbivores and also help to prevent water loss by reducing air flow close to the cactus.

Spring is here again and the snowdrops have started blooming. If you didn't know, snowdrops mark the first sign of spring, flowering ahead of most other plants. Most species flower in late winter, before the vernal equinox (20 or 21 March in the Northern Hemisphere), but some flower in early spring. The snowdrop is native to a large area of Europe, stretching from the Pyrenees in the west, through France and Germany to Poland in the north, Italy, northern Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, and European Turkey. It has also been introduced and is widely naturalized in most parts of the world.

Madagascar Periwinkle Flowers

Also known as bright eyes, Cape periwinkle, old maid, pink periwinkle, rose periwinkle this species of flowering plant(Madagascar periwinkle - Catharanthus roseus) is native and endemic to Madagascar. It is grown as an ornamental and medicinal plant. It's flowers are white to dark pink with a darker red center.

Cacti occur in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Most cacti live in dry environments. Most species of cacti have lost true leaves, retaining only spines, which are highly modified leaves. Spines help prevent water loss by reducing air flow close to the cactus and providing some shade.

Autumn Asters

Asters come in a different shades of purple, blue, white, and occasionally pink. The name Aster comes from the Ancient Greek word "aster", meaning "star", referring to the star shaped flowers of these perennial flowering plants. The Aster genus encompasses around 170 species.

Purple Hyacinths

Hyacinths bloom in early to mid spring and come in a variety of colors including purple, white, pink, rose, blue, lavender, and red. These fragrant flowering plants grow from bulbs, each producing around four to six linear leaves and one to three spikes or racemes of flowers.

Red Lilies
