The fruit of redcurrants can be eaten raw, but it has a strong, tart flavour. It can be made into jams and jellies. With maturity, the tart flavour of redcurrant fruit is slightly greater than its blackcurrant relative, but with the same approximate sweetness. In the United Kingdom, redcurrant jelly is a condiment often served with lamb, game meat including venison, turkey and goose in a festive or Sunday roast. In France, the highly rarefied and hand-made Bar-le-duc or Lorraine jelly is a spreadable preparation traditionally made from white currants or alternatively redcurrants.
Cinnamon Sticks Play

Cinnamon Sticks

Do you like cinnamon? Here's how cinnamon looks before being used in your food, desert or drink. Cinnamon is a spice obtained from the inner bark of several trees from the genus Cinnamomum that is used in both sweet and savoury foods. Cinnamon is harvested by growing the tree for two years then coppicing it. The next year, about a dozen shoots will form from the roots. The branches harvested this way are processed by scraping off the outer bark, then beating the branch evenly with a hammer to loosen the inner bark. The inner bark is then prised out in long rolls. Only this thin inner bark is used to get the cinnamon sticks.

Olive oil is produced by grinding olives and extracting the oil by mechanical or chemical means. Green olives usually produce more bitter oil, and overripe olives can produce oil that is rancid, so for good extra virgin olive oil care is taken to make sure the olives are perfectly ripened. Olive oil is the main cooking oil in countries surrounding the Mediterranean. Extra virgin olive oil is mostly used as a salad dressing and as an ingredient in salad dressings
