About: Cockwood is a small village on the west side of the Exe Estuary in the county of Devon, England. Cockwood has two pubs. The Anchor Inn which is on the harbour front and the Ship Inn, nearer the village hall. The Anchor Inn is over 450 years old and was originally opened as a Seamen's Mission. It was a haven for seamen and smugglers and is said to be haunted. But don't the let the ghosts scare you off, click start and put the beautiful small harbour back together in today's puzzle. Today's new puzzle features three windmills on the side of a hill. The masonry tower mill was introduced at the end of the thirteenth century. On this type of mill only the cap is rotated rather than the whole body of the mill. The cap can be turned into the wind either by winches or gearing inside the cap or from a winch on the tail pole outside the mill. A method of keeping the cap and sails into the wind automatically is by using a fantail, a small windmill mounted at right angles to the sails, at the rear of the windmill.
