Yamnuska translates to "wall of stone" Standing at approximately 2,240 meters above sea level, Mount John Laurie is the first mountain on the north side of the Bow River valley. The mountain was renamed after John Lee Laurie, 1899-1959, the founder of the Indian Association of Alberta - an organization that promoted the causes of Alberta native people. It is a semi-enclosed sea, bordered in the southwest by the Apennine or Italian Peninsula, in the northwest by the Italian regions of Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and in the northeast by Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania—the Balkan peninsula. As in most Mediterranean Basin areas, the Adriatic Sea and its surrounding landmass enjoy the Mediterranean climate, a type of subtropical climate.

Golden Gate Bridge
Spanning the Golden Gate strait this suspension bridge is one of the most know landmarks in the San Francisco Bay. It opened in 1937 and had, until 1964, the longest suspension bridge main span in the world, at 4,200 feet (1,300 m). The Golden Gate Bridge's clearance above high water averages 220 feet (67 m) while its towers, at 746 feet (227 m) above the water. The bridge is popular with pedestrians and bicyclists, and was built with walkways on either side of the six vehicle traffic lanes.
