About: Landshut is the capital of Lower Bavaria, Germany. It is situated on the banks of the River Isar and is the largest city in Lower Bavaria. The city was founded in 1204 by Duke Louis I. The town is of national importance because of its predominantly Gothic architecture within the historic town centre, especially Trausnitz Castle and the Church of Saint Martin featuring the world's tallest brick tower (you can see it in the center of today's new jigsaw puzzle). Construction of the church began around 1389, under the architect Hans von Burghausen. The building was completed in 1500. With a height of 130.6 m (428 feet), the church tower is considered to be the tallest brick building in the world.

The water wheel may have originated from the ancient Near East in the 3rd century BC for use in moving millstones and small-scale grain grinding. Typically, water is diverted from a river or mill pond to a water wheel, along a channel.
