Gates of the Yosemite

Today's puzzle is based on Albert Bierstadt's 1882 painting called "Gates of the Yosemite". Bierstadt was a German-American painter best known for his breathtaking landscapes of the American West. The painting featured in this puzzle depicts the Gates of the Valley near the western end of Yosemite Valley (a glacial valley in Yosemite National Park in the western Sierra Nevada mountains of Central California).

Federa Lake And Midday Peak

In today's puzzle we're visiting lake Federa (lago Fedèra). This beautiful alpine lake in the Italian Dolomites is located within the municipal area of Cortina d'Ampezzo , in the province of Belluno. The mountain peak reflecting in the lake's waters is called Becco di Mezzodi (2,603m) and it is a a mountain of the Croda da Lago chain, a small mountain group in the central Dolomites. The mountain's name means Midday Peak in the local dialect, as the sun appears directly above the peak at midday from Cortina.

Bow Lake

Today we're on shores of Bow Lake, a small lake in western Alberta, Canada. This beautiful mountain lake is located on the Bow River, in the Canadian Rockies, at an altitude of 1920 m. Water in the lake is meltwater of the Bow Glacier and its turquoise coloring is due to glacial till (unsorted glacial sediment).

Trees and Houses

This new puzzle is base on "Trees and Houses Near the Jas de Bouffan" oil on canvas painting by Paul Cezanne. The painting depicts a view of the Cezanne family residence , Jas de Bouffan mansion, near Aix-en-Provence. The mansion was built circa 1750 for Gaspard Trupheme, an Advisor to the Court of Audits. It was purchased by banker Louis-Auguste Cezanne, the father of famed painter Paul Cezanne, in 1859.

Train Crosses A High Trestle

Today we're going to the Rocky Mountain town of Georgetown and taking the Georgetown Loop Railroad scenic train to see breathtaking landscape. The Georgetown Loop Railroad is a 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge United States heritage railroad located in the Rocky Mountains in Clear Creek Count. This tourist train runs between the communities of Georgetown and Silver Plume through mountainous terrain along with trestles, cuts, fills, and a grand loop.

Bald Cypress Autumn Leaves

Also known as swamp cypress, white cypress, tidewater red cypress, gulf cypress and red cypress, the bald cypress is a deciduous conifer. Although many conifers are evergreen, bald cypress trees shed their needlelike leaves in the fall. Their bark is grayish brown to reddish brown, thin, and fibrous with a stringy texture and have needle-like green leaves. In autumn, the leaves turn yellow or copper red. Each winter the trees drop their leaves and regrow a new set in the spring.

Large Tree Crown

Trees come in a variety of shapes and sizes. From small ones that are just a few meters in height to very large ones that tower over the landscape. In today's puzzle we feature a very large tree crown against the clear blue sky. If you didn't know, the crown of a tree is the spreading top including the branches and leaves. The uppermost layer in a forest, formed by the crowns of the trees, is known as the canopy.
