Bowling Alley

Today we're heading to the bowling alley for a game with friends. The most common types of indoor bowling games include ten-pin, nine-pin, candlepin, duckpin and five-pin bowling. The earliest most primitive forms of bowling can be dated back to Ancient Egypt and the Roman Empire. The first standardized rules for bowling were established in New York City, on September 9, 1895. The oldest surviving bowling alley in the United States is part of the summer estate of Henry C. Bowen in Woodstock, Connecticut, at Roseland Cottage. The alley, now part of Historic New England's Roseland Cottage house museum, dates to the construction of the cottage in 1846.
Darts

Darts

Darts is a traditional pub game, commonly played in the United Kingdom, across the Commonwealth, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Republic of Ireland, the Scandinavian countries, the United States, and elsewhere. The dartboard may have its origins in the cross-section of a tree. An old name for a dartboard is "butt"; the word comes from the French word but, meaning "target". Initially the missiles were simply cut down arrows or crossbow bolts. The first purpose made darts were manufactured in one piece from wood; wrapped with a strip of lead for weight and fitted with flights made from split turkey feathers. The standard dartboard is divided into 20 numbered sections, scoring from 1 to 20 points, by wires running from the small central circle to the outer circular wire. Circular wires within the outer wire subdivide each section into single, double and triple areas. There are many games that can be played on a dartboard, but darts generally refers to a game whereby the player throws three darts per visit to the board with the goal of reducing a fixed score, commonly 501 or 301, to zero, with the final dart landing in either the bullseye or a double segment.

Colorful Question Marks

In this fun new puzzle we feature lots and lots of colorful, overlapping question marks in different positions and rotations. If you didn't know, the question mark ( ? ) (also known as interrogation point, query)is a punctuation mark that indicates an interrogative clause or phrase in many languages. In English, the question mark typically occurs at the end of a sentence, where it replaces the full stop (period). However, the question mark may also occur at the end of a clause or phrase, where it replaces the comma. In Spanish, since the second edition of the Ortografía of the Real Academia Española in 1754, interrogatives require both opening (¿) and closing (?) question marks. In Arabic and other languages that use Arabic script such as Persian and Urdu, which are written from right to left, the question mark is mirrored right-to-left from the English question mark.

Vintage Pocket Watch And Pearl Necklace

These type of watches were the most common type of watch from their development in the 16th century until wristwatches became popular after World War I. Pocket watches generally have an attached chain to allow them to be secured to a lapel, waistcoat, or belt loop, and to prevent them from being dropped. There are two main styles of pocket watch, the hunter-case pocket watch and the open-face pocket watch. An open-faced, or Lepine watch, is one in which the case lacks a metal cover to protect the crystal - like the one in this fun new jigsaw puzzle. A hunter-case pocket watch is a case with a spring-hinged circular metal lid or cover, that closes over the watch-dial and crystal, protecting them from dust, scratches and other damage.
