This design did not use springs, but was fashioned in one piece, with the two prongs part of the peg with only a small distance between them. Today's clothes-pegs are made up of two interlocking plastic or wooden prongs, in between which is often wedged a small spring. Today we're visiting Wernigerode, a town in the district of Harz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The contains several interesting Gothic buildings, including a town hall with a timber facade from 1498 (the building on the left in this puzzle). The town was first mentioned in the records in 1121 in connexion with Count Adalbert of Haimar. On 17 April 1229 the settlement was granted town rights. Wernigerode was the capital of the medieval County of Wernigerode and Stolberg-Wernigerode. In 1815, after the Napoleonic Wars, it became part of the Prussian Province of Saxony.

Also known as English yew, or European yew, Taxus baccata is a conifer native to western, central and southern Europe, northwest Africa, northern Iran and southwest Asia. Baccata is Latin for bearing red berries. The word yew as it was originally used seems to refer to the color brown. It is a small to medium-sized evergreen tree, growing 10–20 meters tall, with a trunk up to 2 meters diameter. The leaves are flat, dark green. The red berry-like things you see in the image are seed cones, each cone containing a single seed, partly surrounded by a modified scale which develops into a soft, bright red structure called an aril.

The tram system is situated in an urban area, along an axis that slopes 17.7%, that extends from the Avenida da Liberdade to the Rua de São Pedro de Alcântara, crossing a built-up area of 19th century buildings, including the Palácio Foz and the Misericórdia of Lisboa.
