Sopwith Camel Puzzle Details:

About: Put this jigsaw back together and see the legendary Sopwith Camel. The Sopwith Camel was a British First World War single-seat biplane fighter introduced on the Western Front in 1917. Manufactured by Sopwith Aviation Company, it had a short-coupled fuselage, heavy, powerful rotary engine, and concentrated fire from twin synchronized machine guns. Though difficult to handle, to an experienced pilot it provided unmatched maneuverability. A superlative fighter, the Camel was credited with shooting down 1,294 enemy aircraft, more than any other Allied fighter of the war.

Biplane Propeller

If you didn't already know, a biplane is a fixed-wing aircraft with two main wings stacked one above the other. The first powered, controlled aeroplane to fly, the Wright Flyer, was a biplane. Biplanes offer several advantages over conventional cantilever monoplane designs: they permit lighter wing structures, low wing loading and smaller span for a given wing area. The yellow biplane feature in today's new puzzle is powered by an engine using a wooden propeller. Propellers are made from wood, metal or composites and are used to convert rotary motion from an engine or other power source, into a swirling slipstream which pushes the propeller forwards or backwards.
