It is a species of flowering plant native to Greece, but widespread as an introduced species elsewhere.

Hyacinths bloom in early to mid spring and come in a variety of colors including purple, white, pink, rose, blue, lavender, and red. These fragrant flowering plants grow from bulbs, each producing around four to six linear leaves and one to three spikes or racemes of flowers.
