This jigsaw puzzle is based on a painting, titled "Mail Coaches on the Road: the `Quicksilver' Devonport-London Royal Mail about to Start with a new Team", by Charles Cooper Henderson. It depicts a mail coach preparing to embark on the next leg of its journey from Devonport to London. The coach is shown at a staging post, where fresh horses are being hitched to the carriage, likely at a rural inn or stopover point. Staging posts were essential stops placed every 10 to 15 miles along major routes, allowing coaches to change horses, take on passengers, or collect mail.

Gourds and squashes are members of the Cucurbitaceae family, prized for their diverse shapes, textures, and colors. Gourds, typically grown for ornamental purposes, come in a variety of irregular shapes, with hard shells often featuring warty or ridged textures. Squashes, on the other hand, are cultivated as edible crops, with varieties like acorn squash often doubling as both decorative and culinary delights. These plants thrive in warm climates, requiring rich soil and plenty of sunlight to produce their striking fruits. The vibrant yellows, greens, and oranges in the display are characteristic of fall, making them popular for seasonal décor. While some gourds are inedible, others have been used historically as containers, instruments, or tools.
Lions are native to Africa and India and live in grasslands, savannahs and shrublands. In this fun puzzle we feature a cute African lion cub playing on a tree log. Female lions can give birth to a litter of between one and four cubs. Lion cubs primarily consume their mother's milk for the first few months of their lives. Lionesses, the female lions, nurse their cubs and provide them with the necessary nutrients to grow and develop. Over time, as the cubs continue to grow and their hunting skills develop, they will gradually shift from relying on their mother's milk to consuming more and more solid food. Cubs typically start to become more independent and eventually leave their mother's care around the age of 1.5 to 2 years old.
Based on a painting by Jan Steen (Dutch, 1625/1626 - 1679), today's puzzle depicts a couple dancing while two young musicians play their instruments at a festive village celebration. In the scene you can see other people eating, drinking and enjoying the party while the couple dances. The grinning figure on the left of the scene, the one who caresses the chin of the woman drinking from an elegant wine glass, is none other than Steen himself.
Perched among glossy leaves and clusters of red berries, these black and yellow warblers bring bright color to the forest canopy. Their plumage is vivid and distinctive. A golden yellow breast is marked with bold dark streaks, while black wings with white bars and a bluish gray head give the bird a sharp, elegant pattern that stands out against the surrounding foliage. Small but lively, these warblers measure only about 11 to 13 centimeters in length. They rarely stay still for long, moving quickly from branch to branch as they search for food. With their slender bills they pick caterpillars, beetles, flies, and spiders from leaves and twigs, helping control insect populations in the forests where they live. During the breeding season they inhabit northern forests of the United States and Canada, especially areas with dense young conifers that provide shelter for their nests. As autumn approaches they begin a long migration southward, traveling thousands of kilometers to Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean where they spend the winter. High in the treetops, the males fill the air with thin, high-pitched songs used to defend territory and attract mates. In moments of quiet, like this scene among the berries, these restless travelers pause briefly before continuing their lively search through the leaves.
Also known as swamp cypress, white cypress, tidewater red cypress, gulf cypress and red cypress, the bald cypress is a deciduous conifer. Although many conifers are evergreen, bald cypress trees shed their needlelike leaves in the fall. Their bark is grayish brown to reddish brown, thin, and fibrous with a stringy texture and have needle-like green leaves. In autumn, the leaves turn yellow or copper red. Each winter the trees drop their leaves and regrow a new set in the spring.
