The painting was made in 1839 and had three versions. The alleged first version is privately owned and used to be on loan to the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg. Today we're going back to the 1890s and visiting the Bruton Church in the restored area of Colonial Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia.
