The saucer magnolia (Magnolia x soulangeana, it's flowers are featured in this puzzle) typically grows to a height of 20-30 feet (6-9 meters) and a width of 15-25 feet (4.5-7.5 meters), with a rounded or spreading shape. Its leaves are dark green and oval-shaped, and can grow up to 6 inches (15 cm) long. One of the most striking features of the saucer magnolia is its large, cup-shaped flowers, which can grow up to 10 inches (25 cm) in diameter. The flowers are usually pink or purplish-pink, with a white interior and a subtle fragrance. They bloom in early spring, before the leaves appear, and last for several weeks. It is a cross between Magnolia denudata and Magnolia liliiflora, and was first bred in France in the early 19th century.

In today's new puzzle we feature two yellow dandelions in a grassy field. The dandelion's flower heads are yellow to orange, and are open in the daytime, but closed at night. The flower heads mature into spherical seed heads sometimes called blowballs or clocks containing many single-seeded fruits called achenes. The mature seeds are attached to white, fluffy "parachutes" which easily detach from the seedhead and glide by wind, dispersing.
