About Northern Gannet Among Cormorants: Perched on a narrow ledge above the restless sea, a Northern Gannet stands out in bright white against the darker forms of nearby Cormorants. The contrast of light and shadow mirrors the meeting of sky and rock, where these seabirds gather in crowded colonies shaped by wind, salt, and time. Northern gannets are powerful hunters, known for their dramatic dives from great heights into the ocean. They can strike the water at remarkable speed, using streamlined bodies and air-filled sacs beneath the skin to absorb impact. Their sharp eyesight allows them to spot fish below the surface before plunging with precision. These cliffs are more than resting places. Gannets return to the same sites each year, forming long-term pair bonds and raising a single chick on narrow ledges. The pale markings on the rock reveal the presence of generations, a quiet record of life lived close to the sea. // Image Credit: Fuertes, Louis Agassiz. This distinctive facial feature is more prominent in males, which are slightly larger than females. The Emperor Tamarin is omnivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits, insects, small vertebrates, and occasionally, nectar from flowers.
The surface of a tree may seem unassuming at first glance, but upon closer inspection, a world of detail unfolds. The outermost layers of stems and roots of woody plants, bark, protect the plant from the outside world. Each crevice, knot, and pattern etched into the bark's surface is a chapter in the life of the tree, a chronicle of its struggles and triumphs through seasons and years. Each species of tree has its own distinctive pattern, color and texture. Depending on the environment and climate a tree's bark can be rough(like the one featured in this puzzle) or smooth. The tree featured in this game has a rough and deeply furrowed (it has narrow, elongated grooves, lines, or wrinkles) bark that makes it a challenge to put back together while completing today's challenge. Think you can do it? Give it a try!
